Principal of the Gymnasium SSST Senad Alić and the manager of the Network for Building Peace Nataša Maksimović signed a memorandum on cooperation in Interculturality in Education project today.
This project is implemented by NGO Children of Montenegro with its partners Network for Building Peace from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Association of Pedagogues from Montenegro, as part of regional program Dialogue for the Future: Improving Dialogue and Social Cohesion within and among Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia, implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO.
The aim of the project is to help young people develop intercultural skills that contribute to the spirit of solidarity and cooperation among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro within the educational system, but also to increase the number of teachers and teaching units which focus on diversity of ethnic groups and cultures in high schools in Podgorica and Sarajevo, as well as to raise awareness among young people about the need to uphold and promote tolerance and cultural diversity.
The project will be implemented over the course of the next six months in Sarajevo and Podgorica.
We believe this project will help different cultures and ethnic groups better understand, accept and respect each other, and help establish even deeper cooperation between the SSST Gymnasium and other educational institutions in the country and the region.
